The Heywood Charities Fete is one of the biggest and the most long-standing event in the calendar of Heywood.  Organised by the Heywood Charities Fete Committee,  it traditionally takes place annually on the first Sunday in September and is supported by many local voluntary groups, organisations and local businesses.  It begins with a parade through the town centre of Heywood, followed by the Fete taking place at Queen's Park, Heywood.

Revenue from the Fete from the small gate entry charge is donated to local charities and groups to benefit a variety of deserving causes within the town.  At the Charities Fete Committee AGM in 2017 a share of £6,000 was gratefully received by many Heywood Groups.  (See community News)

HEYWOOD CHARITIES FETE 2017 - Sunday 3rd September

This year’s Charities Fete was a huge success attracting lots of families who lined the streets to watch the colourful parade through Heywood with numerous community groups, local businesses and organisations taking part including Blue Rose Gifts, Kats Dance, Friends of Hopwood Park, Birch Farm Old Fashioned Ice cream, Character Closet, and many more. The parade ended at Queen’s Park which was filled with stalls from a variety of local charities including Sandon House, CVS, Little Monkeys, Heywood in Bloom and Heywood Lions.  Entertainment and activities for all ages were enjoyed.   Heywood Fire Fighters were in attendance with an appliance for the children to explore.  Heywood Veterans Association assisted by marshalling the Parade and Heywood Rotary Club provided stewards at the Fete.  Also enjoying the day were Heywood councillors; Liz McInnes MP and the Deputy Mayor & Mayoress of Rochdale Councillor Mohammed Zaman and Naaira Zaman.

Following the chosen theme of “book titles”, this year’s winners of float category were Hey Kids with "Annie".

The winners of the walking section were Back o’th Moss Community Centre with "Alice in Wonderland".

All involved in the day put in a great deal of effort to contribute to a fantastic, memorable day for Heywood.

The Heywood Charities Fete Committee would like to thank everyone who supported the event.  A particular thank you to this year’s sponsors - Heywood Activities Partnership, The Heywood Handbook, Streetwise Magazine, Yearsley Group and Crown Oil and Heywood Township.

Revenue from the Fete will be distributed to local charities at the AGM in February 2018 to directly benefit residents of Heywood.

Anyone wishing to sponsor or take part in this year's parade and fete on Sunday 2nd September 2018 can contact Chair Person, Steve Brown on 01706 365723.
