This year’s Charities Fete on Sunday 3rd September was a huge success attracting lots of families who lined the streets to watch the colourful parade through Heywood.  Numerous community groups, local businesses and organisations showed fantastic community spirit and took part, these  included Roach Dynamos Football Club, Blue Rose Gifts; Kats Dance, Friends of Hopwood Park, Birch Farm Old Fashioned Ice cream, Character Closet, and many more.

The parade ended at Queen’s Park which was filled with stalls from a variety of local charities including Sandon House, Rochdale CVS, Little Monkeys, Heywood in Bloom, Crimble Croft Community Centre and Heywood Lions.  Entertainment and activities for all ages were enjoyed.   Heywood Fire Fighters were in attendance with an appliance for children to explore.

Heywood Veterans Association assisted by marshalling the Parade and Heywood Rotary Club provided stewards at the Fete.

Also enjoying the day were Heywood Councillors; Liz McInnes MP and the Deputy Mayor & Mayoress of Rochdale Councillor Mohammed Zaman and Naaira Zaman.

Following this year's chosen theme of “book titles”, the winners of float category were Hey Kids (HAODS) with "Annie".

The winners of the walking section were Back o’th Moss Community Centre with "Alice in Wonderland".

All involved in the day put in a great deal of effort to contribute to a fantastic, memorable day for Heywood.

The Heywood Charities Fete Committee would like to thank everyone who supported the event.  A particular thank you to this year’s sponsors - Joe Sharp who provided lorries, Heywood Activities Partnership, The Heywood Handbook, Streetwise Magazine, Yearsley Group, Crown Oil and Heywood Township.

As always, revenue from the Fete will be distributed to local charities later this year to directly benefit residents of Heywood.
