Previously a mill town and coal mining district, Heywood has a thriving community and is located on the southern bank of the River Roch.

Complete with a picturesque train station which forms part of the East Lancashire Railway, Heywood is home to top-rated restaurants, thriving small businesses run by people who might well be our next door neighbours, a multitude of voluntary groups making a real difference to every day lives, and some outstanding schools.

There are families who have lived here for generations and new arrivals drawn to attractive housing and good commuter links.  But for everyone; there is a chance to enjoy local events, local parks, excellent leisure facilities and an ever-growing sense of genuine community.
